Congratulations to Jessie and Reade! This is one of my first posts on my wedding blog so thanks for stopping by to read about this WONDERFUL June wedding.

Jessie and I used to work together teaching at a preschool in Charlottesville a few years back. I loved getting to know Jessie better in the classroom during my time at the school. She is not only a great teacher but she also has a great sense of humor and is so kind and sweet. I was so honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding! Knowing her excellent lesson planning skills in the classroom and her creativity, I couldn’t wait to see when she had planned for her Virginia farm wedding.

From the moment I arrived at Wilhoit’s Mill Farm, I knew this was going to be a beautiful day. From the rolling hills filled with wildflowers, groves of tall straight pine trees, to the river and pond on property, everywhere I looked were prime photography backdrops. It was truly a wedding photographers dream! I love when there are lots of different areas at one venue where I can get variety of backdrops in my images. It makes for a really beautiful wedding album.

Jessie and Reade decided to be a little non-traditional for their wedding and decided not to have a bridal party. Instead they had their children accompany them during the ceremony. Maddy and Chase were so fun to photograph. They kept me on my toes through out the day but always kept me laughing. It was such a sweet moment to watch Reade helping Chase with his tie and jacket and to see how Maddy’s eyes lit up when she saw her mom in her wedding dress.

Jessie and Reade both looks so sharp on their wedding day! I loved capturing a few portraits of each of them before their ceremony.

Then, before we knew it, it was time for these two love birds to tie the knot! Jessie and Reade chose not to see each other before their wedding ceremony. While I do love a good first look, it was so moving to see Reade overcome with emotion as he saw his bride walk down the aisle. Chase patted his dad on the shoulder to comfort him as Jessie walked closer. Such a sweet exchange. There were few dry eyes during this ceremony!

Another way that Jessie and Reade made their wedding really feel their own is by including their children in their ceremony. Not only did Jessie and Reade make vows to each other, but they also made vows to Maddy and Chase. I just thought that this was so creative and so moving. What a way to make this day special for the whole family.

Talk about a dramatic first kiss! The ceremony was so beautiful in every way.

Now that Jessie were husband and wife, it was time to capture some portraits. We had no shortage of beautiful scenery to choose from but Jessie and Reade wanted to do their portraits by the river on the farm. As we walked down to the river, Reade spoke to me more about how he and Jessie met and how they fell in love. It wasn’t hard to see how in love these two are with each other.

I could have stayed in those fields of wild flowers all day but it was time for the happy couple to get to their party!!! Jessie and Reade’s reception was casual, laid back and fun. They had delicious BBQ and a DJ who also a very talented country singer. There were touching toasts and moments of dedication to family members and service members who are no longer with us, as well as, sweet first dances. Jessie and Reade’s wedding was a perfect day that felt just like them, relaxed, fun, and a little goofy from time to time! Congratulations to you both. I wish you and your family a lifetime of joy and good fortune.
